GEORGE NEWS - Wally the giant yellow duck will mark the spot for the float party at the Herold’s Bay tidal pool this coming Sunday, 18 February. This social gathering is organised by Pool Party Cape Town, that sent out an invite on social media to everyone to join in on the fun.
They have been working on a series of prints of Cape Town tidal pools filled with people and floaties, and this will be held for the first time in the Garden Route.
Once everybody is on their floaties and in the water, a drone photo will be taken that may be shared on social media and of which prints will be made available.
When and where?
Everybody meets on Sunday 18 February from 09:00 at the big tidal pool in Herold’s Bay and those whose floaties have not been inflated yet are given the opportunity to do so. If you can’t fit your inflated floatie in your car, look for Wally the giant duck at the venue to find the pump. The aim is to be in the water by 09:30.
Support local
As always, profits from print sales from the Herold’s Bay float will be donated to a local organisation, and in this case a swim school, Garden Route Swimming School, will benefit from the social gathering. A print will be released after the float of all the colourful floaties and bathers.
Please take note that participants are under no obligation to purchase a print when they join the float party.
“Just join us for a fun morning,” reads the invitation on Instagram.
Should the weather change, the float will be cancelled (keep an eye out on @poolpartycapetown online).
Everybody floats at own risk. Children must always be accompanied by an adult when floating. A buddy system is recommended.
