GEORGE NEWS - The Christmas in July high tea hosted by the George branch of the Garden Route SPCA (GRSPCA) on Saturday 23 July was well supported and everybody had a lot of fun.
The table hostesses went all out to create a Christmas spirit with some nifty decorations and delicious eats. The event was held at St Aidan's hall. About R12 000 was raised.
According to GRSPCA chairperson Michelle Nobre, they hope to make this an annual event.
Nobre said the difficult economic climate has a knock-on effect on the organisation. Not only is their income from donations being negatively impacted, but they also see an uptake in the numbers of pets coming in from owners who are struggling financially.
Sponsors donated some amazing prizes that were handed out.
The main prizes went to Angie Coleman for the best dressed table and Ingrid Watkins for best dressed lady.
The grand prize draw was won by a thrilled Marie Groenewald who received two nights for two people, breakfast and dinner included, at the Thylitshia Villa Guest House in Oudtshoorn.
