GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Garden Route recorded 148 new cases of Covid-19 and 17 more deaths in the week from 9 to 16 February.
The decline in active cases is continuing and the figure stood at 431 as at 16 February, compared with 574 a week earlier.

Occupancies in Covid beds in the district is declining and according to the latest figures supplied by the Western Cape Health Department last week, it was nearing 10%.
There was, however, a sharp increase (105% in the province overall) in the number of trauma cases immediately after the lifting of the alcohol ban, according to Dr Keith Cloete, head of the Western Cape Health Department.
Weddings allowed
The Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) Command Centre confirmed in a statement this week that weddings are allowed under the current lockdown regulations with specific directives that apply.
According to district head of Disaster Management Gerhard Otto, the regulations must be interpreted as a whole.
"This requires comparing Regulations 33, 36, 39 and 45 with one another." Otto says it was confirmed that the wedding industry was not mentioned specifically as an exclusion in Regulation 45, however social gatherings at nightclubs are.
