GEORGE NEWS - Grade 1 learners of Glenwood House private school seemed both relaxed and excited about their first day in "Big School" yesterday, Wednesday 11 January. 

A total of 38 Grade 1s filled the two classes eagerly, while the teachers enjoyed the merry buzz of giggles and chatter. 

Teacher Ingrid Sullwald said her class seems like a nice bunch of kids and she is looking forward to spending this year with them.

Before the kids headed off to class, parents and learners had a chance to take a photo with giant-sized pencils and erasers.

The message on one of the erasers read: "You don't just teach, you inspire."
