GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging waves along parts of the Western Cape coastline between Cape Point and Plettenberg Bay from Thursday, 1 May to Friday, 2 May.
A south-westerly swell with wave heights of 3.5 to 4.5 metres, accompanied by strong to near gale force winds (gusting up to 70km/h), is expected to result in rough sea conditions.
Additionally, strong to near gale force westerly to south-westerly winds (40-60 km/h gusting at 60-70km/h) are expected to accompany these waves which will result in rough and choppy seas.
The winds will moderate from the west from Thursday afternoon.
Potential impacts:
- Dangerous navigation conditions for small vessels and watercraft
- Increased risk of capsizing
- Localised disruption to beachfront activities
- Risk of waves sweeping people off coastal rocks
- Temporary disruption at small harbours or ports

Very cold, wet and windy conditions are expected over the Cape Winelands, Central and Little Karoo municipalities until Friday, 2 May.

The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong westerly to north-westerly along the south coast in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly.

Western half of the Eastern Cape
Cloudy and cold with isolated showers and rain but cool along the coast.
The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly, reaching gale force in places from late morning.
Eastern half of the Eastern Cape
Windy and cold in places, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and rain in places south of the escarpment, becoming partly cloudy in the north in the afternoon.
The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly, reaching strong in places.
