ELECTION NEWS - This is the 25th year of our new democracy and the upcoming elections are said by all the political parties to be crucial to the direction the country will be taking.
The national and provincial elections 2019 will take place on 8 May. There are two votes to be cast - one for national government and one for provincial government.
This means you will get two ballot papers, each with the parties’ flags or emblems and the party leaders.
Should you be unavoidably out of town you can still vote in the national election, but not in the provincial, as you have to be in the province in which you are registered. It is also important to remember that your party vote in the national ballot does not have to be the same as in your provincial vote.
Furthermore, contrary to rumours floating about at this time, your vote is completely anonymous – no one can trace your vote back to you!
