GEORGE NEWS - Three suspects aged 35, 37 and 40, were arrested in Maraiskamp (Conville) after three stolen Specialized e-bikes were found in their possession.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, the bikes were found on Friday 31 January after members of the George Crime Prevention Unit and detectives responded to information about the whereabouts of the bikes that were stolen earlier last week.
The information took the team to a house in Maraiskamp where the bicycles were found and the suspects arrested.
They appeared in the George Magistrate's Court earlier today, Monday 3 February on charges relating to theft and possession of suspected stolen property.
The 37-year-old was remanded in custody pending a formal bail application. The other two were released and warned to reappear in court on 11 February.
In an unrelated matter this morning, at about 09:30, Central Karoo K9 members conducted patrols at shopping centres when they spotted two men near an ATM in Donkin Street, Beaufort West.
The members approached the men and found several bank and Sassa cards as well as identity documents in their possession. The men were unable to provide any reasons for their possession thereof and both were arrested for contraventions of the National Credit Act.
The suspects aged 19 and 25 remain in police custody. They will appear in court once charged.
All three the bikes were found in Maraiskamp.
