GEORGE NEWS - Mossel Bay Municipality's portfolio chairperson for Finance Alderman Mark Furness and a co-accused, Marie Francis, will make their fourth appearance in the George Magistrate's Court today, Wednesday 23 April.
The charges against them are tax-related and involve the business, Bardins Jewellers. Furness and Francis have 75% and 25% interest in Bardins, respectively.
They are facing 14 counts of tax-related offences.
Hawks Western Cape spokesperson, Warrant Officer Zinzi Hani, confirmed this and said the charges against them include failure to appoint a representative taxpayer, failure to submit an income tax return and failure to submit value value-added tax return.
