GEORGE NEWS - A 38-year-old suspect was arrested by the Hawks' George-based South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (Saneb) team for dealing in drugs earlier today, Saturday 14 June.
According to Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi, the arrest was executed after information was received about a known suspect transporting drugs from Cape Town to George on the N2.
"Information was operationalised, and the vehicle was stopped with one occupant. Upon search, two plastic bags containing crystal methamphetamine (tik) were found," Vukubi said.
The street value of the drugs was estimated at R159 000.
The suspect will make his first appearance in the Great Brak River Magistrate's Court on Monday 17 June.
