GEORGE NEWS - Two suspects detained at George Police Station were re-arrested after they escaped from their cell yesterday, Tuesday 10 December.
Both suspects were in custody on charges of shoplifting and possession of suspected stolen property
"Circumstances surrounding the escape of two prisoners at the police holding cells in George at about 08:00 on Tuesday are under investigation," said Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies.
The police launched a manhunt for the duo following the discovery and they were taken back into custody last night. They are now also facing an additional charge of escape from lawful custody.
They will appear in court once charged.
