GEORGE NEWS & VIDEOS - Despite the rainy weather, people turned up at the Harry Comay Hospital this morning, Saturday 2 October, to be vaccinated. This marks the first of the Vooma Vaccination weekends rolled out to encourage the public to be vaccinated.
"Vooma" is derived from the Afrikaans word "woema", meaning energy and speed. It also resembles the Nguni word "vuma", which means "agree".
In his address to the nation on Thursday, President Cyril Ramaphosa called on all leaders to support the Covid-19 vaccination programme by getting behind this campaign.
