GEORGE NEWS - On 10 September, the Garden Route Eye Clinic and George Surgical Centre celebrated their 25th and 10th year anniversaries with a very special event at Fancourt.
Doctors and staff dressed up and, with gratitude, celebrated the privilege of being on this journey together.
Garden Route Eye Clinic was established in 1997 by Dr Charl Roux and Dr Richard Faul in their quest to serve the community and create a centre of excellence for eye care in the Southern Cape.
Dr Johannes Meyer (2005) and Dr Beyers Botha (2013) have since joined the team. This team of highly experienced and reputable ophthalmologists, whose vision is to provide quality and effective eye care to their patients, apply advanced technology and the latest surgical techniques for the benefit of the patients.
The eye specialists are assisted by a team of experienced ophthalmic assistants and an optometrist, backed up by an administrative team for whom compassion and excellent service are of the utmost importance.

The George Surgical Centre, situated at 44 CJ Langenhoven Road in George, has been operational since September 2012.
It is a state-of-the-art day hospital, the first in the Southern Cape region, providing surgical facilities for comprehensive eye surgery, advanced corrective laser eye surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, orthopaedic hand surgery, maxillofacial and oral surgery, cryosurgery as well as minimally invasive neurosurgery procedures to all communities.
They use the latest surgical techniques and the latest word-class technology available for these procedures. All staff are highly trained and experienced in their fields and have built a reputation for providing quality and compassionate care. 50 000 patients have been treated at the day hospital since 11 September 2012.
Together the Garden Route Eye Clinic and George Surgical Centre provide employment to 84 staff members.
They strive to render excellent and compassionate care to the community of the Southern Cape for many years to come!
