GEORGE NEWS - Following the Covid-19 pandemic, patients strongly expressed the need for a modern medical imaging facility outside of the hospital.
WESP Radiology addressed this need by opening a state-of-the-art ground floor radiology practice with a homely feeling, on the corner of York and Gloucester streets, just a couple of meters from George Mediclinic's main entrance.
"After a year of daily feedback from the patients, we are delighted to confirm that our new site consistently met their expectations and offers a completely different experience; it just feels like home with a high-quality service," said Mikael Coquiller, practice manager.
At the WESP radiology outpatient centre, patients are provided with a variety of medical services, such as mammography, ultrasound, X-rays, and bone density examinations, performed by top of the range radiology equipment.
"It has been a pleasure to be able to provide an excellent service to both our patients and our referring doctors, in such a comfortable environment," said Dr Van der Merwe, radiologist at WESP Radiology.
With October approaching, also known as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to remind everyone of the importance of regular mammograms in the early detection of breast cancer.
The mammography results are given immediately after the examination. Regular breast cancer screening is crucial after the age of 40.
