The array of delicious meals now ranges from lavish breakfasts to delectable cakes, croissants, barista coffees and their famous freak shakes. An extensive burger range includes a Guacamole, Mexican, Jalapeno Pickle, Chilli Chicken Cheese and Double Bench Classic. Prices range from R70 for a Bench Classic to R125 for the Double Bench Classic for extra hungry diners. The burgers are basted with the famous Bench barbeque sauce and served with onion rings and shoestring fries.
Specials
The best news is that for the entire year, this newly revamped establishment will be offering specials, bound to entice the whole of George. The Brights' impulsive buy of The Bench testifies to their judgement and experience, having run hugely successful restaurants in Hermanus and Hout Bay. Georgians are sure to reap the benefits of this sound management team. The entire eatery has been revamped and streamlined. A terrace at the back and an upstairs bar accommodate diners wishing to watch sports in HD while munching on flamed grills.
Menu
Their seafood platter is highly recommended, comprising cubed hake fillet, calamari, prawns, and mussels. With prices ranging from R89 for Fish and Chips to R289 for a platter, the seafood dishes cater for all pockets and appetites. You must try the Bench Calamari grilled and flamed in tequila, cooked with chilli, fresh lemon and spices.
Dishes like the Surf and Turf (R169), and the Steak, Egg and Chips (R139) feature perfectly aged sirloin steaks which are consistently juicy, tender and full of flavour. You can have sumptuous omelettes for breakfast, French toast BLT, tempting sweet cakes with fresh coffee for elevenses and hearty 1kg Rib and Steak in the evenings, in a well-heated restaurant.
Their new pizza oven adds an extra dimension to the menu and the restaurant. Several flavours of pizzas are now served, including the Gourmet Pizza range, offering anything from pulled pork to chorizo pepperoni and chickennaise. The thin crisp-based pizza can also be ordered with extra toppings in a variety of exotics.
