GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - Securitas Financial Group recently acquired the property adjacent to the Eden District Municipality at 52 York Street, sporting a large building with flats and office space, which has been standing empty for about two years.

It had been repossessed by Nedbank Corporate Property. Georgians driving past will notice that renovations to the property are underway in preparation for Securitas' move on 1 July.

The deal was facilitated by Bryan de Beer of Platinum Wave, who specialises in commercial and industrial properties. "We are truly proud to be part of the George CBD," says Susan Warren, representative for the George office.

Warren says they are the 13th branch in the country of the Securitas Financial Group (Pty) Ltd that have been in the financial advice services for the past 25 years. The George office opened its doors last year and, due to rapid expansions, the company decided to buy its own building.

They are currently located in the Coetzee Pharmacy Arcade, Unit 2, 72 York Street.

Their new property comprises of a three-storey office block and 15 residential flats - two bedroom and one bathroom with parking underneath the building.

"We are planning on renting the ground floor offices totalling 124m² as well as the 15 residential units. The residential units are affordable at R3 400 per month (excluding water and electricity) and will be available in the near future. We have no immediate plans to sell any of the units. We are in the process of transferring the property and are already busy with improvements to the building and cleaning the open land on the property".

Securitas may develop another office block in future on the undeveloped open space that forms part of the property, but that is part of their long-term plans.

Currently, no development will take place here and persons interested to rent it, may contact the office.

The company services clients with advice regarding all facets of the financial environment. The George office consists of four advisors namely Brentia Redelinghuys, Steyn Fourie, Melinda Lamprecht and Anna-Marie Nienaber, who specialise in short-term insurance, as well as two long-term advisors, Helgard Meyer and Freddie Oosthuizen.

Nicky Theron and Linda Stevens form the administrative backbone of the office.

Susan Warren and Marietta Jones specialise in the medical aid industry and they fall under Securitas Health Consultants, also known as SHC Projects (Pty) Ltd. They service the municipalities in the region, namely Eden District Municipality as well as the George, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn and Hessequa municipalities.
