Advertorial
GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - Protea Pharmacy, trading in George since 1960, has expanded its clinic services offered at their Alpha Clin health care clinic.
A huge variety of extra services are offered at the clinic that is run by a registered nursing sister.
The services include preventative health screening, which has long been advocated as one of the most important health care strategies to facilitate early diagnosis and treatment, improve quality of life and prevent premature death.
These tests are claimed from the Preventative Care and Screening Services Benefit of medical aids and will not affect the day-to-day benefits.
Discovery Vitality
The clinic also offers Discovery Vitality health checks and enhanced Vitality health checks to earn Vitality points. Health risk assessments for most medical aids, including Gems (Government Employees Medical Scheme), encourage their members to have at least one screening test (BP, cholesterol, blood glucose and HIV) per member per year.
Protea Pharmacy's other health care services include:
- Baby clinic for administering immunisation;
- Checking of all the development milestones to ensure the baby's health progress is on track;
- HIV counselling and testing;
- Family planning;
- Pregnancy testing;
- Adult vaccines;
- BP checks;
- Total cholesterol as well as full lipogram if required (lipogram gives breakdown of total cholesterol into high density cholesterol, low density cholesterol and triglycerides);
- Blood glucose as well as HBA1C test which gives a reading of the average blood glucose levels during the preceding three months;
- Wound dressing;
- Removal of stitches;
- Referral to a doctor when necessary.
