BUSINESS NEWS - Experience groundbreaking healing with the Garden Route Injury Treatment Centre's (GRITC) hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) steel chamber - the first of its kind in the Garden Route.
What makes this chamber unique, is that it increases the atmospheric pressure to 2 ATA (atmospheres absolute), thus increasing absorption ability and enhancing healing capacity.
"There are chambers like these in Cape Town and East London, and then a big gap in between," says director Etienne Joubert. "We are very proud to be the first to bring the latest in hyperbaric oxygen chambers to George and surrounds."
The benefits of breathing oxygen-rich air while lying in a chamber with an air pressure two to two-and-a-half times higher than at sea level are well documented. This process stimulates red cell generation, plasma development, and various physiological processes, enhancing recovery from a range of medical conditions including non-healing wounds, chronic anaemia, severe infections, and neurological trauma.

"We are already seeing clients that present with a range of ailments – from lymphoma to diabetes, oedema and non-healing wounds, as well as athletes from a range of sporting disciplines – cycling, running, rugby and hockey," says Joubert. Along with medical specialists and sports teams, GRITC seamlessly integrates HBOT into existing treatment protocols, offering a holistic approach to healthcare.
A 60-minute session in the chamber is comfortable. Clients read, watch a movie, listen to music or sleep while in the oxygenated and pressurised environment.
