GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - Dermatologist Dr Heinrich van Rensburg is a newly arrived Georgian who joined the practice of Dr Willem Fouchè as an associate two months ago.
Van Rensburg practised as dermatologist in Klerksdorp for the past five and a half years. He grew up in Somerset East in the Eastern Cape and completed his graduate and postgraduate studies at the University of the Free State.
Any diseases relating to the skin - from cancer and acne to conditions that affect hair and nails - fall in the ambit of his specialism. He also offers cosmetic anti-ageing treatments such as chemical exfoliation, mesotherapy, Botox and fillers.
He uses FotoFinder mole mapping to assist in the diagnosis of melanoma skin cancer, photodynamic therapy to treat superficial skin cancer, and ultraviolet therapy for conditions like psoriasis and vitiligo.
His interest in dermatology was sparked when, while practising as a general practitioner, he attended a course in occupational health. "On the first day, the professor of dermatology spoke about occupational associated skin diseases. It intrigued me and I decided to go back to university to specialise. I like the continuity with my patients. You often get to know the whole family, starting from the older generation with their sun-associated problems to the teenagers with acne."

Van Rensburg and his wife, Hilda, and their children Anika (12), Hilandri (10) and Erich (5) love outdoor adventures such as camping and safaris, and they adore the sea. He is an avid runner who participates in the Comrades Marathon every year.
