But as it turns out, breathtaking mountain views over lush greens are no longer the exclusive domain of those with a handicap. There is something for everyone in this offbeat little eatery. From the hand-painted floor and colourful, shweshwe upholstered chairs, to the reclaimed brick pallets that make up the window counter (a lovely place, incidentally, from which to ponder the mountain while you sip on locally roasted coffee from Beans About Coffee), the transformation of the dining area has been a labour of love.
But while the restaurant now looks like somewhere a hookah smoking caterpillar perched on a mushroom would not seem out of place, the pub portion with its solid wood bar top and train station clock has retained its English character, and is one of only two places in George where you can grab an ice-cold, locally brewed Glenhoff draught on tap.
In the short while it has been open, Mujo has already built up a loyal following who claim they make the best pizzas and burgers in the Garden Route. But between owners Liezl and Adam Kelland, and Chef Zelide Breedt (formerly from Zucchini's at Timberlake), pizzas and burgers are far from the only things you will find on the menu. These foodie fanatics love nothing more than trying new and interesting dishes on their happily obliging customers, so you could tuck into oxtail lasagne, peanut butter and chocolate cheesecake or beef curry slow cooked with peaches in coconut cream, depending on where their whims have taken them.
Comfy couches, free WiFi and a large lawn area with a jungle gym means Mujo has something for the whole family.
Keep up to date with their live music line-up, daily specials and everything else by following them on Facebook (www.facebook.com/mujorestaurant) or Twitter (@MujoRestaurant).
