GEORGE NEWS - Halfway Toyota and Lexus George are definitely going places, so don't be surprised if this dealership is announced the overall dealer of the year in 2024.
Not only can they boast with seven members of their sales team achieving "knighthood" earlier this month, but recently they were also announced as the Large Dealer of the Year at the annual Toyota Dealer of the Year awards.
This glitzy event was hosted at the Hilton in Sandton on 10 March with more than 200 Toyota dealers competing.
Through the years Halfway George has become a landmark in the area, and judging by the list of awards and achievements they brought home during the annual awards ceremony, you can be assured of receiving the best service from them.
Besides being announced as Large Dealer of the Year, the branch also received the following accolades:
- Customer experience award : Large dealer of the year
- Pyramid of excellence award: new vehicle sales
- Pyramid of excellence award: Automark sales
- Vehicle Sales New award: Vehicle sales large category (runner-up)
- Century Club Certificate Bronze: new cars
- Century Club Certificate Bronze: Automark
- Customer service award: Service department - large dealer.
Massive team effort
"Winning these accolades was made possible by each and every staff member, from the wash-bay to top management," says dealer principal Mark Jones. "Each member went, and continues to go, out of their way to make all our clients feel like guests. They have truly lived up to the five principles and values that we hold so dear and believe to be the key to our success."
This was the first year for Halfway Toyota George to be promoted into the large category. It is the biggest and most competitive segment of the dealer network, so, to win Large Dealer of the Year in their first-year competing is testament to the "can-do" attitude of each and every staff member.
"We pride ourselves on a winning recipe. This dealership is a place where people feel welcome, included and at home. The atmosphere is charged with enthusiasm and a 'can-do' attitude and all our dealings are characterised by honesty, fairness and commitment.
"This is a dealership where each employee has personal pride in, and takes accountability for, everything that happens here. Every customer finds a reason to return," says Mark.
Boasting some of the accolades recently won by Halfway Toyota and Lexus George are Kabelo Mashile, Tracy Stemmet, Clayton Roos (regional manager, Western Cape and Namibia Toyota South Africa), Adam Kirstein and Louise Jacobs.
Customers come first
The second big accolade, Customer experience award: large dealer of the year, was another of extreme importance for the team. This award is based on the customers' voices and what they think of the dealership.
"Winning this award validates the staff's efforts and further motivates us to make every guest feel welcome, included and at home going forward. When a customer returns it is the greatest compliment and when they take time out of their busy lives to rate us and provide positive feedback and compliments, it drives us to do better," says Mark.
Lexus for the win!
The third accolade awarded was for the Lexus team who were announced the winners of the four-round National Skills competition that was held earlier this year.
The final was held over a weekend at Champagne Sport Resort in the Drakensberg where, after a full day of gruelling competition, Halfway Lexus George emerged victorious and won the yearly National Skills competition.
"We look forward to them defending this position this year. Another example of the staff's passion and commitment to being their best for our guests," says Mark.
