The outgoing (controlling share) business partner Carol Wicht said she is already scheduled to be travelling and judging international competitions and is thus keeping her finger in the pie.
"I am looking forward to the Chaine des Rotisseurs Junior Chef cooking competition to be staged in September this year at Durban where 30 countries will be participating. I would like to bring smaller competitions to George. Unfortunately, our town at present does not have a big enough commercial kitchen to stage such an event."
Lindley, who owned the largest catering company in Mozambique before selling up and moving to South Africa a year ago, said she was quite excited about the new partnership and there are great plans in the offing in expanding the courses to be offered at the academy including wine appreciation courses.
Francois Ferreira said the academy has grown over the past decade, and that most of the graduates are immediately employable and find jobs with the companies with which they did their internships. The courses have expanded and the next group of graduates are ready to go into the 'wide, wide world' (in June) as rounded chefs who know how to pair wine with food, and boast a multitude of skills. Over the years some long-lasting partnerships were formed with Absa and some large suppliers, and the academy was looking forward to building on these. The academy now offers tailor-made cooking courses to the public.
The next business chamber networking evening is on 26 June.
