BUSINESS NEWS - Most of us love to drink wine. But, in conversation, most of us go glassy-eyed when words like "vintage", "varietal", "wine of origin" and "bouquet" come up. Nowadays wine lovers prefer less talk and more interactive experiences.
Still, it's a simple fact of life that the more you understand something, the more you will appreciate it.
Just think – the more you understand about the wine, the better you can experience and enjoy the almost limitless feast it provides for the senses.
While tasting all the varieties of a producer at one show makes for a very happy individual, it blunts and confuses the senses rather than heightens it.
Can a match be made between the mind and the senses?
"Yes," say the organisers of the Wine & Whatever Experience, proudly supported by Vodacom. "It is a match made in wine heaven!" At the Wine & Whatever Experience you will be able to explore, in depth, a single cultivar from multiple producers at each of three events. You will also have more meaningful interaction with the producers, learning what factors influence the individual flavour of their cultivars.
The first Wine & Whatever Experience will be held on 8 August when Augusta Grill & Patisserie in George hosts the Bryan Adams Tribute Show.
The show starts at 18:00 for 18:30. Tickets are R150 per person or R1 500 per table of 10. Bring your own picnic basket or order one from Glenwood School. More information on this experience is available at www.ticketrush.co.za/event/bryan-adams-tribute-concert.
The second Wine & Whatever Experience will be held on 9 and 10 August at Fancourt's Conference Venue. We will explore the 2018 wines, a year of extreme drought that has produced exceptional wines. The event will run from 11:00 to 18:00 on both days and tickets are R70. A large selection of good food will be available to complement the wines.
Tickets are available at www.ticketrush.co.za/event/wine-and-whatever (at slightly cheaper prices), or from the Vodacom outlets listed below:
