BUSINESS NEWS - On Tuesday 17 October, Garden Route Eye Clinic celebrated the 10th year of Dr Beyers Botha's association with the clinic at a special function. It was held at the Garden Café, located on their premises at 44 CJ Langenhoven Road.
Dr Botha graduated at the Free State University in 1995 and obtained the specialist Degree in Ophthalmology (MMED Ophth) in 2002.
He moved to Canada in 2002 where he ran a successful practice until deciding to return to South Africa in 2013. While in Canada, he obtained his Canadian Ophthalmic Certificate and became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as a member of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society. In addition to general ophthalmology, he has a special interest in cataract surgery, oculoplastic surgery, and glaucoma. He also has an interest in refractive surgery (LASIK and now also TESA).
The three other seasoned specialists at Garden Route Eye Clinic have an even longer history in George. Dr Charl Roux has been practising in George for 28 years, Dr Richard Faul for 26 years and Dr Johannes Meyer for 18 years.
Comprehensive specialist services
Garden Route Eye Clinic offers comprehensive eye care and surgical procedures, utilising advanced technology and the latest surgical techniques. This enables patients who used to travel to the big centres to have their surgery performed locally.
Their services include advanced visual testing, specialised eye examinations, the treatment of all eye conditions and screening for laser refractive eye surgery. A team of ophthalmic assistants and an on-site optometrist assist patients when visiting their specialist.
The clinic is proud to have some of the best high-tech ophthalmic equipment available to assist in diagnosing a variety of different eye conditions, such as the Heidelberg OCT retinal scan and MS39 corneal scan. These scans aid the ophthalmologists in deciding on the best course of treatment for these eye conditions.
The Schwind Amaris system is also the best system worldwide for evaluating and performing refractive surgery.
