BUSINESS NEWS - Dr Percy van Wyk has sold his medical practice to Drs Gustus and Shani van der Spuy.
Dr Van Wyk joined the practice of Dr Michael Gardiner in 1977 and has been in general practice in George for the last 41 years.
He qualified in 1990 as senior aviation medical officer, which enabled him to do medical checkups for pilots, a service that he will still be delivering. Dr Van Wyk will also continue as a locum and assist with operations.

It was a real privilege for him to share his knowledge and experience with the community of George. He wants to thank all his colleagues in the Southern Cape with whom he has been working for many years.
Dr. Van Wyk bedank ook sy personeel vir hul lojaliteit en ondersteuning asook sy vrou, Lydia en hulle kinders vir hul ondersteuning deur al die jare. Hy sê dat hy met die grootste vrymoedigheid en volle vertroue dr. Gustus en dr. Shani van der Spuy kan aanbeveel vir sy pasiënte. "Ons is altyd dankbaar as Suid-Afrika se kinders terugkom van oorsee en ons weet George se mense gaan die Van der Spuys gou laat tuis voel!" sê hy.
Dr. Percy van Wyk en sy vrou Lydia met weerskante van hulle, van links: Dawie, Loudine, Esmarié en Charlotte. Loudine van Wyk Wiseman, die oudste dogter, praktiseer ook in George as 'n tandarts.
Van der Spuys return from Canada
Drs Gustus and Shani van der Spuy both graduated in 2007 from the University of the Free State, where they met and were married. After gaining experience in Canada over the past seven years, they have returned to George with their two young children. While in Canada, they furthered their training and became members of the Medical Council of Canada, obtaining their certification as Canadian family physicians.
Prior to going to Canada, both worked in various community clinics in George.
They look forward to attending to the health of Dr Van Wyk's current patients, and will also welcome new patients looking for a family physician.
Dr Gustus van der Spuy has a special interest in the care of the elderly as well as men's health, while Dr Shani van der Spuy's interests include women's health, contraception, pregnancy related care and aesthetic medicine, including interventions like Botox and "fillers".
