GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - If you were one of the over 9 240 visitors at the George Strawberry Festival presented by Ola at the Redberry Farm last weekend you will appreciate why the George Municipality's motto is 'George, the City for all reasons'.
The fun family festival had plenty in store for young and old, with children relishing the gigantic inflatable Henties kids play park. The Redberry Farm activities, Redberry express mini train, pony rides, pedal go-carts, bunny feeding, boats and bubble ball on the dam were packed from the moment the gates opened until parents had to call it quits for the day.
Kid-friendly shows included live performances by Lollos, a Henties puppet show, balloon twisting by the talented Derick Hill, face painting and the Ace Models Miss Strawberry pageant.
The older folks relaxed with fun in the sun strawberry experiences as they indulged in strawberry treats and cocktails at the Strawberry Emporium before going off into the Redberry strawberry fields. Families were entertained on our Coca-Cola Music Stage by local artists such as Kloudink, Mathew Rodriguez and Rhino & the Rasta.
They also enjoyed some family fun in the McDonald's Games Garden where they could do target shooting, play giant jenga and berry twister! There was an entertaining line-up for the Redberry Family Stage, which held the strawberry stomping competitions, strawberry eat-off competitions and the Mascot Parade!
François Ferreira fascinated us with his amazing kitchen skills as he demonstrated many scrumptious strawberry-licious dishes, from sweet to savoury! On Saturday morning from 09:00 till 12:00, Wayne Heart of Algoa FM broadcast live from the George Strawberry Festival presented by Ola.
Oaktree Transport presented their Redberry branded truck at the festival and allowed visitors to guess how many strawberries the truck can hold! We had a blast at the country life and good food family weekend. Thank you to all our visitors for making it so special and unforgettable! It was a weekend to remember!
We are so proud of our local entertainers and event partners who brought us a jam-packed weekend line-up.
Thank you to Ola, George Municipality, Group Editors, Algoa FM, SAB, Blitsdruk, Kaap Agri, Wesgro, Department of Agriculture and the Outeniqua Tourism Association and all our sponsors for helping us create a fun, wholesome outdoor family weekend.
