GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality reminds all residents, contractors, and waste transporters that all waste transported to the landfill site or transfer station must be securely covered or tightly sealed during transit.

This precaution is essential to prevent waste from being blown off vehicles, which leads to environmental pollution, illegal dumping, and public complaints along access roads and surrounding areas.

By working together, we can maintain a clean city and protect the natural beauty of our environment.

Please note:
Failure to comply is a contravention of the George Municipality Integrated Waste Management By-laws and Section 25 of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (Act No. 59 of 2008). This legislation requires all waste holders to take reasonable measures to prevent waste from spilling, escaping, or being littered during storage, collection, transportation, or disposal.
