The contamination originates from the Pacaltsdorp Sewer Pump Station, affecting downstream areas.
As a precautionary measure, all individuals are instructed to immediately cease any extraction of water from the Schaapkop River and to avoid all contact with the water body, including swimming, fishing, and any other water-related activities.
The municipality has stopped the spillage and is in the process of performing the necessary repairs.
