GEORGE NEWS - The latest dam level update, supplied by George Municipality on 23 June:
- Dam level: 89,05%
- Compared to 91,83% on 24 June
- Rainfall: 11.5 mm (Measured from 1 – 7 July 2025).
The cooperation of all users of municipal water is essential and is greatly appreciated.
2B water restrictions are still in place:
- Mechanical or automatic irrigation / watering devices or sprinkler systems for gardens are prohibited.
- Gardens may be watered at any time using a handheld bucket.
- Gardens may be watered using a handheld garden hose only within specified time frames:
- 1 September to 30 April: 18:00 to 20:00
- 1 May to 31 August: 17:00 to 19:00
- Retirement villages and pensioners: 16:00 to 18:00 all year
- Even numbered houses: Mondays and Thursdays
- Uneven numbered houses: Tuesdays and Fridays
- The irrigation or watering of all sport fields is prohibited. Exemption applies only for golf course greens, bowling greens and cricket pitches, daily between 19:00 - 21:00.
- The washing of vehicles using a hosepipe/mechanical means, except by a formal commercial enterprise, is prohibited.
- The cleaning of any outside surface area by means of potable water is prohibited.
- The filling of swimming pools is prohibited.
- Where own water from a borehole or reservoir is used, "own water" signage must be displayed.
