WILDERNESS NEWS - The survey will collect aerial information to help establish a baseline for a section of Wilderness Beach and inform future management of the coastal environment.
The drone will be used to capture information on dune and beach topography, dune and beach vegetation, as well as other environmental features relevant to the maintenance and management of the area.
Members of the public may notice drone activity at the beach while the survey is under way.
Flights restricted to approved survey area
George Municipality said the survey is planned for 15 September, subject to suitable weather conditions.
Drone flights will be limited to the dune and beach areas within the approved survey site.
The assessment forms part of the municipality’s work towards developing a coastal dune rehabilitation and maintenance management plan for the affected section of Wilderness Beach.
