GEORGE NEWS - The first phase of the Plattner Boulevard rehabilitation project is scheduled ot commence in September and will continue until April 2026.
This phase will include Plattner Boulevard from Barkhuizen Drive to the intersection with Airway Road, as well as a portion of Airway Road past the first roundabout.
The work will involve rebuilding the road layers and constructing a new asphalt surface to replace the current paving. Additionally, new sidewalks will be constructed on both sides of Plattner Boulevard, along with improvements to storm water drainage and kerbs.
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday: 07:00 to 18:00
- Saturday (if required): 07:00 to 14:00
Residents will need to be cautious throughout the rehabilitation process. Adherence to flag persons, temporary road signage and markings will be required.
Stop-and-go traffic controls will be in effect, and road users are advised to consider alternative routes to avoid delays. Average estimated waiting time between 10 to 15 minutes.
Access to the site will be strictly controlled, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Temporary Bus Stops will be implemented and locations conveyed to the public.
