LOCAL NEWS - Mercedes-Benz George will welcome a special leg of the Mercedes-Benz “140 Years. 140 Places” World Tour, hosting a public event to celebrate 140 years of Mercedes-Benz innovation and to give locals the opportunity to see the expedition’s three S-Class vehicles up close.
The public are invited to visit Mercedes-Benz George on 31 August to view the vehicles, meet the expedition team and learn more about the journey that has carried them across six continents.
In 2026, Mercedes-Benz marks 140 years of innovation, tracing its origins back to the invention of the automobile in 1886.
To celebrate this milestone, three Mercedes-Benz S-Class vehicles, named Bertha, Carl and Gottlieb in tribute to the pioneers who shaped the brand, set out on an extraordinary journey from Stuttgart, travelling through Europe, the Americas, Asia and Oceania to reach 140 destinations across six continents.
The African leg of the journey has already taken the convoy through Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia, before arriving in South Africa.
George, at the heart of the Garden Route, is proud to be one of the 140 places selected to form part of this global story.
