Fallen Angel from George writes:
Today (Saturday, 18 October) at 12:30, across the road from the Sassa buildings, a grey Suzuki Swift came to a sudden halt in the parking bay.
Standing there, I watched a mesmerising scene unfold as a young man jumped out of his car to assist the George Police apprehend a unknown male fleeing on foot.
One male officer was trying to catch the suspect, but he was too fast. This young man with his family in the car saw someone in need and decided to act.
He chased the suspect into the front parking lot by the Mini Pick n Pay where he was able to apprehend him with the help of an elderly car guard. Not only did his actions help the police to apprehend the suspect, but it showed me people are still willing to act against crime.
This young man was wearing his work clothes that said Popeye's, and unfortunately I could not see his name. I do know, though, that George needs men like him, willing to defend and act fast. He did not want a thank you or a well done.
He saw something wrong and followed his gut feeling.
