GEORGE NEWS - From 23 to 25 October, visitors to the George Museum who entered the Sayers hall stepped into the fantastical world of Alice in Wonderland.
The exhibits were created by the George Library's Alice for Adults, who had crafted artistic expressions about the 12 chapters of the famous novel.
The exhibition offered a unique glimpse into the creative minds of our community, highlighting the diverse perspectives and inspirations drawn from Carroll's beloved tale.
During the past two months, chapters were allocated to participants and the creative minds started to interpret the chapters. The planning for the event kicked off on Literacy Day, on a First Thursday (when George Library promotes local art) in September.
They met in the 'forest' that was built in the library's foyer with the help of Grow Green and the botanical garden and the creative process started.
This meeting was the start of creating an immersive experience for visitors to the exhibition. All the artworks on display were from local artists, designers and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life.
It was more than just a tribute to a beloved classic, it was a celebration of creativity, curiosity and the boundless imagination that connects us all.
The library sincerely thanks all the sponsors, partners and supporters who made this possible.
The Alice inspiration also found its way into the library's annual Make Your Mark project in November, with the library presenting a series of creative art workshops at the Garden Route Botanical Garden during its indigenous plant fair recently.
