But as soon as the play began, the magic started building and I felt myself being pulled along into the mad, bad and passionate world that Shakespeare created! The beautiful and colourful words were brilliantly put together into a compilation of five of the Bard’s most popular plays by Garth Anderson.
Another wonderful surprise was the brilliant acting of the amateur cast directed by John Keevy. I definitely experienced some goose bump moments.
So whether you are an English teacher wanting to show your pupils what Shakespeare is all about, a well read scholar or just a
normal run of the mill person like me, you will enjoy this evening!
And trust me you will see a little bit of yourself in one or more of the characters, and that is what Shakespeare is all about.
The Lunatic, the Lover and the Poet runs from 5 to 7 May at the Arts Theatre with a matinée on Saturday the 7th. Bookings can be done at the Arts Theatre or Computicket.
