GEORGE NEWS - Local gospel singer and songwriter Nomzukisi Somathamba will perform this Saturday, 23 September (14:00) during a worship event in Thembalethu, alongside artists Putuma Tiso, LY Music, Sisanda Mjekula, Zintle Langa and Sisanda Maseti. The venue is the Life of Christ Church in Zone 7.
Nomzukisi is 26 years old and is considered one of Thembalethu's youngest female gospel artists. She goes by the stage name PoularDaWorld, and discovered her love for singing during primary school. Since Nomzukisi's father is a pastor, she often had the opportunity to sing in his church.
"Nothing brings me more joy than to see that I'm able to heal and bring joy to others with my voice," said Nomzukisi. "I thank God for this gift, because it is only by His grace that I am able to live by the purpose he has intended for me."
In her musical journey, Nomzukisi was once offered a recording deal in Johannesburg, but things did not go according to plan. In 2020 she released a song with a fellow artist, Thulani Mbotoli (Evidence.RSA), titled Nay'Makoti.
She is mentored by Thulani Mbotoli (Evidence.RSA ) and Thando Gcetywa (Mantee) of the Digital High Rate studios in George.
