GEORGE NEWS - If you are keen to expand your knowledge of the music industry, grab a seat this weekend (Friday and Saturday, 17 and 18 March) for information overload by two leaders in the business.
The event is free of charge and will be held at Heatherlands High School on Friday (14:30 to 16:30) and on Saturday (10:00 to 13:00).
Martin Myers, founder of Music Exchange, an annual conference and skills-sharing platform, will take the floor alongside Craig Parks, founder and producer of the Cape Town Jazzathon. Craig also heads the training and development department for the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
Myers was contracted to Sony for 17 years. He runs an artist management agency with clients such as Sipho Mabuse and Siphokazi Jonas. He is the owner of an event company and partner in a technical agency.
The topics that will be covered at the workshop include how to write media releases, create events, handle sponsorship documents, networking, radio submissions and show contracts and fees.
