GEORGE NEWS - York High School learners showcased their incredible talents at the annual York Entertains talent competition held on 25 August.
All the dancers and singers competed on the preceding Monday and Tuesday evenings - the top performers were then given the opportunity to perform at Wednesday's gala event.
The dancers were judged by Une van Zyl, well-known dance teacher from Knysna, and Nico and Karla of Active in Movement. Lynette Peterson, music teacher from Outeniqua High School; and Wynand Janse van Reenen, owner of Newtone Music School, adjudicated the singers.
At Wednesday's gala evening, the judges were Francois Moll, headmaster of York High School; Kerwin Albertus, music student and saxophonist par excellence; Terri Burger, retired teacher; and Megan Oates, trained modern and tap dancer.

It was inspiring to see how hungry these learners were to perform on stage, even though it was in front of a very small audience. All the performances were entirely the learners' own creative works, as no professional help was allowed.
