GEORGE NEWS - One of the most prestigious musical events on the George cultural calendar is the Young Musicians Competition, hosted by the George Music Society. According to Sandra Tilbrook, one of the organisers, hundreds of entries have been received this year.
She is excited that two of South Africa's best judges and instrumentalists, Liesl Stolz and José Diaz, will give lustre to the auditions which are scheduled to take place on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 August.
Both are outstanding musicians and have a treasure of knowledge to impart.
The gala evening will take place on Friday 15 September at 19:00 in the Tuinedal Dutch Reformed Church. For more details about ticket sales ,go to www.georgemusicsociety.co.za/Community-Projects/.
The society hopes to nurture a love of music in the youth of the region and at the same time afford locals the opportunity to listen to up-and-coming artists.
