The public's enthusiastic response was an inspiration for the young dancers. Some 500 dancers from the Christelle Smit Dance Studio (CSDS) will go through their exams up until Thursday 6 November.
The exams take place under the scrutiny of Adrienne Saunders, from the Association of International Dance Teachers (AIDT). She is the appointed examiner for this session, which includes modern tap and hip hop
exams ranging from junior to elite level as well as tests two, three and four. Smit explained the Southern Cape exam session started on Monday 27 October and continues until the 6 November.
On Wednesday CSDS students Gustav Kitching, Joshua Nel, Lourens Obermeyer and Nico Fourie took their hip hop exam. "Elite level female students included Leanka Laubscher (see article below), Candice Koen, Stephanie Kilian and Nadia Degenaar who completed their final hip hop exams. The guys who completed their final elite exams were Nico Fourie and Lourens Obermeyer. The standard of the hip hop exams were rated as outstanding by Saunders. Results will be available at end of exam session," said the proud teacher.

Two dance students Joshua Nel and Gustav Kitching display their hip hop exam moves to the examiner at the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre on Wednesday last week.
