ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Eden FM recently welcomed Lynn Cloete as its new breakfast programme presenter. Listeners enjoy her lively company from 06:00 to 09:00 on weekdays.
Cloete told George Herald she is thrilled about the opportunity and is settling in nicely to life in the Eden FM studio. “It’s been great fun so far. Everyone at the station has been super helpful, and the listeners have been so welcoming and sweet.”
She was a radio presenter at Kingfisher FM in Gqeberha, before she and her husband, Clint, moved to George in April last year. She says every radio station is different, and she has had to undergo some training at Eden FM. “Anyone who has seen what goes on behind the desk will know there are a lot of moving parts in front of you, and you constantly have to think on your feet. It’s super exciting.”
Lynn is a morning person, so the slot before sunrise suits her well. “I’ve always been an early riser, and that really helps when you have to bring the energy at 06:00.”
She says the breakfast show focuses on keeping listeners informed and entertained, featuring current affairs, news, music, interviews, sport and traffic updates. The programme also aims to showcase the Garden Route and everything the region has to offer.
Lynn brings extensive experience in the entertainment industry. Music and performance have formed part of her life since childhood, and she sings and plays the piano.
“I ran the Eastern Cape region for Computicket for almost 15 years before I cut my teeth in radio. I have also done quite extensive voiceover work, which I believe stood me in good stead when I transitioned to radio. I firmly believe the industry I worked in, coupled with years of experience performing on stage, eight of those for Centrestage, set me up and gave me the confidence to be a radio presenter. Of course, I love to talk as well, so that always helps!”
Since moving to George, the Cloetes have fully embraced life in the Garden Route. “We couldn’t be happier that we’re living in this incredible place. We absolutely love it here,” Lynn said.
“I’m the very blessed bonus mum to my husband’s beautiful son, who now lives in New Zealand and is thriving. At home, it’s just hubby and me.”
Her Christian faith and meaningful connections with people are what she treasures most in life. “At my very core, first and foremost, I am a fiery born-again Christian, and that, before anything else, means everything to me. I absolutely adore laughter and being around people with a good sense of humour. I really value connection and am always up for great conversation,” she said.
Outside the studio, Lynn enjoys cooking, baking, music, home decor, beach outings and exploring the region with Clint on their adventure motorbike.
“It’s very important to me to have a creative outlet. I come alive when I do what I love,” she said.
