Christelle Smit's Dance Studio opened with a fiery, passionate number titled 'Terre Aride' with dancers dressed in red and black. They set the stage on fire in three numbers with music written for Circque du soleil - including Svecounia and Alegria. After the show Smit said that the arresting music had inspired the choreography for all three numbers.
In an enchanting 'Night Forest' ballet item, Abbigail Geldenhuys danced lightly in a dreamlike elegance along with her young students from Townsend-Geldenhuys School of Ballet. They impressed in Pas de Quatre.
Jeanette Ziady's George High Dance Department students were brilliant in performing excepts from Paranaue.
Their traditional mukulele and samba performance had an engaging rhythm that was mesmerising.
The beautiful costumes, tap dance items performed by Kim's Dance Studio and the grand showbiz style 'New York New York' item; magical moments with Melissa Page School of Dance, the 'Medley of Musicals' by Annelise Smith's Dance Workshop and George School of Performing Arts all added to a magical Saturday at the arts theatre. An elderly woman was moved to tears and explained it was because of the "beauty of it all".
