GEORGE NEWS - Mel Botes will bring his show that celebrates the poets, their songs and of course their penchant for wine, to the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre on Friday 23 February.
For the past nine years, multi-talented musician and master guitarist Mel Botes has tantalised audiences across the country with his critically acclaimed musical performances in two Pink Floyd tribute shows, Crazy Diamond and Dark Side of the Moon and later his tribute to Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing, plus his two original masterpieces David's Confession and Flight of Bird.
Audiences and critics agreed that he mastered the complexity and density of the music in both the tribute shows in a way that none of the other tribute shows have achieved.
In the show Poets, Wine and Song, Botes will cover Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Rodriques, Cat Stevens, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and others.
He will also perform some of his original work. The show will feature the same authenticity, the same pinpoint accuracy in his playing, the same delightful Botes touch that audiences have come to expect from the virtuoso.
Join Mel for all the best acoustic songs from our favourite poets.
Tickets are available at the George Arts theatre office in York Street or online at www.georgeartstheatre.co.za.
The show starts at 20:00. Tickets are R160 per person and R120 for members of the George Arts Theatre.
