ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - The Philharmonia Choir of Cape Town will lead the Sung Eucharist at St Mark's Cathedral on Sunday 3 May at 09:00.
The 78-voice choir will be touring the Garden Route between 1 and 3 May, with a stopover in George.
The conductor will be Richard Haigh, with organist Kevin Kraak.
The musical setting of the Mass will be by French composer Charles-Marie Widor and anthems by Parry, Mozart and Hakes will be included in the service.
Following the service a short concert of choruses from Handel's Messiah, choral anthems and a musical theatre medley will be presented.
All are welcome to join the Cathedral congregation for worship at 09:00 and to stay, free of charge, for the concert following the service.
The choir has a reputation for musical excellence. Its highly qualified musical director and musical assistant ensure that they are well trained and prepared for all their performances.
They are a group of amateur singers that come from many different backgrounds and stages of life who all have one thing in common: a great love of singing and music.
They aim to perform three or four large works per year, interspersed with smaller concerts and volunteer events.
