GEORGE NEWS - More than 700 runners took to the roads in wet conditions on Monday 10 August for the Brew to Brew 12km in George.

The race started at Elvis Brew in York Street and finished at the Elvis Brew Padstal across from the George Airport. Despite persistent rain, runners turned out in strong numbers and tackled the route.

Lloyd Bosman claimed overall victory in 35:16, Selwyn Matthews finished second in 36:06 and Bruce Maboza finished third in 36:10.

In the women's category, Nikki Walter of the Knysna Marathon Running Club took first place in 46:27. Carla Spangenberg finished second in 46:41, while Nerida Lubbe of Nedbank Running Club was third in 49:54.

The event attracted runners of varying experience, from athletes competing for the podium to participants taking on the distance as a personal challenge.

The strong demand for entries was reflected in the event selling out before the organisers released an additional 100 entries in response to the demand.

Volunteers, marshals and traffic officials supported the participants along the route, while the runners were welcomed at the finish at Elvis Brew Padstal.

The organisers thanked the runners, volunteers, marshals, traffic officials, sponsors and the Elvis Brew team for contributing to the event.
