ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - Music lovers in George and the Eden region are in for a treat when three prominent local choirs, the SingFonix Male Voice Ensemble, George Male Choir and Eden Camerata Chamber Choir, will share the stage at St Mark's Cathedral for a one-night-only performance on Saturday 14 June.
SingFonix, founded in 2017, is known for its diverse repertoire, ranging from sacred and classical to contemporary and folk music.
The ensemble, led by Dr Riekie van Aswegen, delivers messages of love, joy and nostalgia through song. Their talent was recognised internationally when they won their category at the 2018 World Choir Games.
The George Male Choir, formed in 1982, has become a musical ambassador for the region.
With notable performances at the Royal Albert Hall and international festivals, the choir continues to thrive under the current director, Chrisna du Preez.
Recent highlights include performances at the Choral Celebration National Festival, appearances in a Netflix production, and a fundraising concert for Carpe Diem School.
George Male Choir
Eden Camerata, a chamber choir founded in 2022, has quickly made its mark with its multilingual a cappella repertoire, featuring works by composers such as Mozart, Gjeilo and Schubert.
The choir, under the baton of Dr André van Zyl, promotes the values of compassion and love through music.
Eden Camerata have hosted and performed at major events, including the ATKV Applous competition and a regional festival, drawing over 800 attendees.

The concert on 14 June promises to be a magical evening showcasing the rich choral talent of the Southern Cape. Entrance is free, and donations are welcome. It will start at 18:30.
