Skydive Mossel Bay is giving away a static line skydiving course that includes a ground school and first jump to the value of R1 800 to one lucky winner.
Entrants must be over 16 years of age.
All you need to do to qualify for this amazing prize is to answer the question and fill in the form below:
How many hours of training does a student receive during the initial ground school course?
Skydiving solo will either leave you speechless or turn you into a motormouth after your first jump. It is the ultimate bucket list item and it is right here in Mossel Bay. Making your first jump through the static line programme is a cost-effective, legit way to experience skydiving without being attached to an instructor and is the first step to acquiring a skydiving licence.
The static line course has evolved over the last 30 years from its military origins into a successful method for training sport parachutists. In the initial ground school, the student gets around 6 hours of training and is then taken to an altitude of 3 500 feet for the first jump. The class prepares you for everything you need to know about canopy control, landing, emergency procedures and safety checks.
The jump itself consists of a simple “poised” exit from the strut of a Cessna aircraft. As the student falls away from the plane, the main canopy is deployed by a “static line” attached to the aircraft. The student will experience about two to three seconds of falling as the parachute opens and must control and land the parachute himself. When you sign up, everything is included: training, equipment rental, repacking and all course materials. It is your job to bring your enthusiasm and courage. The full course to A licence level consists of 33 skydives that you can complete over time, but there are many people who just want to try that one jump and be able to say, “I did it”.
What you need:
- Proof that you are at least 18 years old, or parental consent if you are under the age of 18. The minimum age is 16.
- Running shoes with decent support.
- Maximum weight 100kg.
