BOWLING NEWS - This past Saturday, 11 June, saw the Eden District Pairs men's and ladies competition section playoffs being played at George Bowling Club, with the semi-finals and finals on Sunday at the Outeniqua Bowling Club.
The windy conditions made it difficult for the contestants, but superb bowls was played by all. In the end it was the experience of Billy Radloff and Henk Barnard that gave them a comfortable win in the men's section, with Roelof van Milligen and Erwee Harding-Male second and Mike McCarthy and his partner Donald Olivier earning bronze.
In the ladies finals it was the mixture of "old and young" who triumphed, with Marthie Pringle and Susan Meyer beating Wendy Murray and Jenny Sinclair in the final. Bronze was taken by Arlene Bosse and Johlene Bronkhorst.
This was a "historic" feat for George Bowling Club, who bagged all the medals in both the Eden men's and ladies competition.
