GEORGE NEWS - Royal Swimming Academy (RSA) hosted a fun gala last Friday, 19 May, at the premises of Wellness World Gymnasium in George.
"It was a huge success, promoting the development of swimming among all members of our community," said swim coach and owner of RSA Mimette Salter.
"The event brought together swimmers of all ages and skill levels, to showcase their talents and compete in a fun and supportive environment."
Salter said RSA understands that swimming is a sport that requires both physical and mental endurance.
"It is not just about getting into the pool and swimming laps, but also developing skills and techniques. This is why the biannual Guppy Gala event is such an ideal way of introducing swimmers to the idea of a gala in a fun manner," said Salter.
Swimmers from in and around George, representing different swimming schools, were provided with the opportunity to participate in the event. "Although the focus was swimming, it was not about the competition, but a celebration of community spirit," said Salter.
"Families and friends came together to cheer on their loved ones and enjoy the festivities. Overall, the Guppy Gala was a fantastic event that showcased the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in promoting the development of swimming among all members of the community.
"By coming together to support and encourage young swimmers, we can build a brighter future for the sport and our communities as a whole."
