SOCCER NEWS - Promising George referee Onke Dakada (17) has reached another milestone in his officiating career when he was selected to represent the George Local Football Association (Geolfa) and the Eden Region at the Western Cape 3rd division play-offs in Gansbaai.
A Grade 11 learner of Thembalethu High School, Dadaka was appointed to officiate the tournament final, which determined promotion to the 2026/27 Western Cape ABC Motsepe Provincial League.
Six regional champions competed for two promotion places: Saxon FC (Cape Town), Harambee FC (West Coast), Kayamnandi FC (Cape Winelands), Moonlight FC (Eden), Mighty Stars FC (Overberg) and Stars FC (Central Karoo). Kayamnandi FC and Harambee FC secured promotion after winning their respective groups.
Dadaka described his appointment to the final as one of the biggest achievements of his young refereeing career.
"Representing my region at this level means a lot to me," he said. "Officiating the final has motivated me to work even harder. My dream is to one day referee on television, including a Soweto derby, and continue climbing the ranks of South African football."
