SOCCER NEWS - The George Local Football Association (Geolfa) will once again bring communities together through football when it hosts its annual Heritage Soccer Festival from 19 to 24 September.
The open tournament provides an opportunity for clubs from within and outside the greater George area to compete.
The semi-finals and grand final will be played on Heritage Day, Thursday 24 September.
A total of 23 teams have signed up to contest this year’s competition, and there is still an opening for a 24th team to register. The participating clubs will be divided into eight groups of three.
Matches will be staged at three venues across George - Thembalethu Stadium, Lawaaikamp Stadium and Parkdene Sports Ground.
Games start at 09:00 and continue until late. Gate tickets cost R5 for children, R10 for adults, R20 per vehicle and it will be R100 to enter the stalls area.
The festival has become a popular community sporting occasion, using football to unite players, supporters and communities in celebration of Heritage Day.
